My daughter suggested about three years ago that I should write an online newsletter. When I thought of deadlines and their accompanying urgency to write something quick, I panicked! So what could I call it, if it wasn’t a ‘regular newsletter’?
Then, one day, I had just turned a table over on its side to paint it a different color, yet again. I spoke softly to the table. (Yep, you heard correctly. I do talk to objects and if you find that worrisome, you can stop right here.) Anyway, what I said to the table was this: “Well old friend, here we go with another transformation; a new life in a new room in a different house. I promise to do my very best to make you beautiful again this time.”
Then the word hit me…. “Transformations”
“Transformations” seems to be the perfect name for what I do every day.
And there is now a vehicle called a “Blog”. No deadlines. Journal entries when I feel like it. Waah Whoozee!
Over the years, I have transformed paint and canvas into works of art, buildings, yards, houses, rooms, walls, windows, furniture, fabric, and a multitude of ordinary objects into functional things of beauty.
And now, I am transforming photographs into digital works of art, and beads, fibers, wire, etc. into jewelry.
Not to mention the fact that lately, I have been transforming the pure red clay in my back yard into pure red mud. I used to love gardening.
The only constant in life is change, which is transforming. If we are not changing, we are not learning; we are not growing.
I am daily attempting to transform me. My first entry is terribly long.
I saved it as a pdf when I thought this was going to be a series of articles for some kind of newsletter. Whew… what a relief.
Feel free to download it.
