Early on, McKenzie worked with various media to produce art using oil, pen & ink, watercolor, colored pencils, and gouache. Her portraits, still lifes and abstracts won awards and were showcased in art shows across the Northeast. Later, her passion moved to interior design, pattern & textile design, card & poster design, and jewelry design.
Her most recent work has been a return to portraiture. She feels extremely fortunate to have been in one of the first groups of ten students, to study under John Howard Sanden, in his Carnegie Hall Studios, in New York City, in the mid seventies. She began painting professionally soon after. Her portrayals are now rendered with digital brush on a digital canvas using the traditional methods of the masters and a natural media software called 'Painter'.
There aren’t enough hours in the day or days in the week to flesh out the multitude of ideas that pass through a creative mind. McKenzie’s site is designed to share with you both the designs you can purchase for yourself, and the ideas and images you can use to create your own beautiful and personal works of art.
